Resource Support
What is resource support?
Resource Support is available to families of people under the age of 18 years who are not connected to Service Coordination. The Resource Worker can provide fast, short-term support. Resource Support is provided through telephone contact, email and/or scheduled office appointments.
What resource support can offer?
When a person contacts us for help, the Resource Support Worker can…
- Answer questions and share information about a variety of supports and services including
- developmental services
- community services
- funding options
- leisure/recreation
- Help with specific problem solving
- Help assess strengths and needs
- Help to identify barriers to accessing services and supports
- Provide short-term emotional support
- Help to make referrals to other organizations/services
- Liaise with other service providers on request
Resource support cannot help with…
There are some limits to what we can do through Resource Support. If we are unable to provide the help needed, we will suggest other possible sources of help. The resource worker will not:
- Attend school meetings or medical appointments
- Organize case conferences
- Develop service plans
- Provide ongoing, intensive support
- Act as a case manager
- Provide mediation/group facilitation
